Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for doubts to be raised about his position after another convincing defeat versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win of course but if you are coaching a team and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this game so far so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his squad in their European loss, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” Jones remarked.

“It’s just not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a period such as this with outcomes so bad.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And until it is removed, we will always battle.”

“Our aim is to bring this squad return to its rightful place, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
