Ex- Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Legal authorities have stated that a former physician has been charged with performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

The charges come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Prosecutors outline the forty-five sexual offences comprise:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
