Jurgen Klopp states rejoining to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.
Jurgen Klopp, who left Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club remains a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included a European Cup triumph and the Reds’ first league title in 30 years, now holds roles as head of global soccer with the Red Bull group and in an advisory capacity with the German Football League.
Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments
They secured England's top flight in the previous campaign, yet numerous supporters who adore the manager would be thrilled by the possibility that he might come back one day. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I stated I will never coach a different club on English soil. So that means should it be the Reds...yeah. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, that means I might decide down the line, I don’t know. Must I choose now? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, no such pressure exists. I can just see what the future brings.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
When asked about which situations would have to unfold to bring him back to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, I enjoy my current role,” he said. “No longing for management; I avoid standing in the rain through long matches; I don’t miss going to media briefings repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews each week.
“The locker room isn't missed as a dressing room, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad having a nice chat, I appreciate that. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere in the building. I can still hear the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”
Commending Arne Slot
He commended regarding Arne Slot, crediting him due to the changes that won the league in the previous season. They've been defeated four in a row across various tournaments post heavy investment, yet he dismissed the suggestion it could be a decline.
“[Liverpool have] a phenomenal forward in Flo[rian] Wirtz, critics will regret with negative comments. A remarkable prospect. [Hugo] Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good balanced team. No need for concern regarding the Reds, things will improve.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
Klopp also spoke emotionally regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in in 2020, and the effect at the club. Jota was killed in a car crash together with his sibling this past summer.
“How do you replace such an individual? It goes beyond the player himself, it’s the guy he was. I struggle to conceive the squad missing him. Putting it into words is tough about it. A devastating blow for his teammates too. Nobody at Liverpool will ever use it for poor performances but it is the situation. Entering the changing area where his spirit remains. Coping with it emotionally is difficult. Impossible.”
