The City of Angels experienced citywide celebrations after the Los Angeles Dodgers won a nail-biting seven-match World Series title. Supporters across the globe united with local residents in celebration, marking the initial time in a quarter-century that a franchise has achieved back-to-back championships.

Victory Parade Attracts Enormous Crowds

Local events included a procession through the city center on Monday morning, a ticketed rally at Dodger Stadium, and spontaneous parties across the city.

Social media videos show thousands of Los Angeles residents packing downtown streets, many displaying homemade signs and Dodger flags. The squad was seen traveling proudly on a open-top bus through the crowds, raising the championship trophy high.

“My focus is already about the third time we’re going to do this,” Shohei Ohtani stated through an translator.

The parade route ended at Dodger Stadium, where the team walked out to the rapper’s “Not Like Us,” with DJ Mustard providing music and the artist cruising a Pacific blue vintage Cadillac around the field.

Festivities started well before the parade, with supporters lighting fireworks in the roads of Downtown Los Angeles on the previous evening.

The World Series MVP, named the MVP of the championship, spoke plainly about the victory.

“We refuse to lose,” Yamamoto said. “I adore this team. This city means everything to me.”

Mixed Reactions and City Unity

In contrast, the team owner received a less warm welcome at the rally. Recordings from the event appear to show him taking the stage to a combination of cheers and jeers, with jeers punctuating his address.

The World Series acted as a positive moment in what has been a trying year for Los Angeles. An approximate 225,000 people showed up to the championship parade last year, and according to Dodgers player Freddie Freeman, supporters this year showed equal or greater support.

“I feel like it’s almost double from last year,” he said. “These fans are crazy. It’s truly amazing to be a part of this.”
