Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
It has been 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers curious how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser shows the young girl — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
